‘Things I Could Do Instead’ is the sunny new single from Jack Cooper. I feel like this is a great lockdown track as it seems to bring a variety of emotions with it - it’s soft and calm, yet it gives us an energy and fire inside us.
The guitar through the intro sets us up for the rest of the track, it definitely has a typically indie-sunshiney vibe about it. Cooper’s vocals hum above it, so smooth and adding a folk sort of tinge to the track. The beginning of the track is simple, which is calming and doesn’t overcomplicate the track. Later, introduction of layers of instruments give it a depth that enhances the underlying energy that has been present all along. The tempo build towards the end of the track and is sure to have you dancing along!
