Cheltenham staple, Truck (The Band) released new track ‘Sunday Best’ last week and it’s every bit as charming as they are. The track successfully dances across genres with a happy upbeat temperament and lyrics that feel like a breath of fresh air after being underwater for slightly too long. Opening line “It’s been a while since I've felt bad and now I'm glad that I won't bring you down with me” set up the track as embodying this sort of personal renaissance. Later exploring around themes of relationship, connections and mental health.
The energy builds as the track bounces along with twinkly guitars and a tempo that gets you having a little groove. It keeps your attention sharp as it drops suddenly before picking back up with a different sort if vigor which lets the track build and build again.
It also sounds sort of like the opening track to an early noughties romcom for some reason. Please listen to it and see if you also get that vibe.
The track is refreshing and exciting, I can’t wait to see what direction Truck push themselves next!
